Dresden has been ranked 10th in the ‘Best Large City for Human Capital & Lifestyle’ category in the ‘European Cities and Regions of the Future 2022/23’ ranking by the British fDi Magazine, a subsidiary magazine of the Financial Times Group.
Dresden scores well in terms of its potential workforce and quality of life, putting it in 10th place among major cities in the ‘Human Capital & Lifestyle’ category. The criteria in this category include factors such as the labour force participation rate, the educational level of the population, the proportion of highly skilled workers, the number of students/graduates, expenditure on education, the density of universities and R&D facilities – but also indices of social and human development (SPI & HDI).
A total of 553 European cities and regions were analysed. fDi Magazine, a London-based magazine for foreign direct investments, compiles annual rankings of the most attractive European regions and cities. A jury of economic experts and the editors-in-chief of fDi Magazine evaluated the cities and regions on the basis of quantitative and qualitative indicators.
