Over 36,000 visitors at KarriereStart 2024 in Dresden

Bright prospects for young people in Saxony: KarriereStart 2024 comes to an end on Sunday evening with over 36,000 visitors in Dresden. ‘The exhibition halls were always full and there was a great atmosphere,’ said a delighted Roland Zwerenz from organiser ORTEC. Young people were everywhere in the Dresden exhibition halls in search of their dream job that is fun, secure, well-paid and, if possible, close to family and friends. And there has never been a better chance of fulfilling all these wishes with the right training. There are currently excellent prospects for young people in Saxony, as many employees will be retiring in the next few years. At the fair, visitors were able to make direct contact with bosses and HR managers in a relaxed atmosphere and discover job prospects at home. The employers were extremely imaginative in drawing attention to themselves - the offers ranged from leaf blower golf to lorry trucks and from milk bars to popcorn machines at the stand, a simulator allowed visitors to drive both excavators and trams, and Dynamo players and other top athletes also attracted visitors to the fair. From 19 to 21 January 2024, KarriereStart, the trade fair for education, jobs and start-ups, took place in Dresden for the 25th time. Over 560 exhibitors presented themselves at Saxony's largest careers fair and the exhibition halls were fully booked. The 25th KarriereStart was officially opened on 19 January with a kick-off discussion on future opportunities in Saxony with Minister President Michael Kretschmer and representatives from the business community. Minister President Michael Kretschmer said at the start of the fair: ‘The competitiveness of our state depends on the skilled workers of tomorrow. Anyone who completes a vocational training programme has the best chances of finding a well-paid job with a secure future. Saxony offers very good conditions for a successful career start thanks to the excellent educational landscape and the large number of industries and companies in the state. With over 560 exhibitors, KarriereStart in Dresden provides young people with helpful guidance on promising job profiles and training programmes.’ A programme with over 100 presentations and workshops complemented the advice at the trade fair stands, and there were also stand activities and demonstrations as well as applicant training, job casting and application portfolio checks at the trade fair. In addition to the training and job area, KarriereStart once again included a start-up area. Formats such as ‘Start-ups on stage’ and the futuresax start-up brunch provided information on business start-ups, self-employment and entrepreneurship as a career option. The Office for Economic Development, which has been the conceptual sponsor of KarriereStart since the first event in 1999, offered advice on business start-ups, financing and subsidies with its business service in Hall 3 and also provided information on career and study orientation and securing skilled labour. Over 36,000 visitors to KarriereStart - a clear signal in favour of vocational training and the recruitment of young talent in the region. All those involved in the fair agree: KarriereStart is of great importance for securing the supply of skilled labour and maintaining the competitiveness of the regional economy. And so after the trade fair is always before the trade fair - the next KarriereStart will take place from 24 to 26 January 2025.
