KarriereStart 2024 - Saxony's largest careers fair with over 560 exhibitors from 19 January in Dresden

The 25th edition of the education, jobs and start-up fair, KarriereStart, will be held in Dresden from 19 to 21 January 2024. More than 560 exhibitors will be presenting themselves at Saxony's largest career fair, which is fully booked out. The 25th KarriereStart will be officially opened on 19 January at 10 a.m. with a kick-off discussion on future opportunities in Saxony with Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer and business representatives. Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer says at the start of the fair: ‘The competitiveness of our country depends on the skilled workers of tomorrow. Those who undergo vocational training have the best chances of finding a future-proof and well-paid job. Saxony offers excellent conditions for a successful career start thanks to its outstanding educational landscape and the large number of industries and companies in the state. With over 560 exhibitors, KarriereStart in Dresden provides young people with helpful orientation on promising career profiles and training paths.’ Under the motto “Shaping the future yourself”, KarriereStart has been bringing together all topics relevant to the labour market under one roof for 25 years. Roland Zwerenz, managing director of the organiser ORTEC, emphasises: ‘Our special thanks go to the Dresden Office for Economic Development, which has been the fair's conceptual partner since the first event in 1999, as well as to the 25 exhibitors who have been there every year since the beginning. Since the start, we have been able to welcome over 580,000 visitors to the fair and provide them with career guidance.’ As a large and central career guidance and job fair, the fair offers a wide range of opportunities for discussions and applications for professional planning in every phase of education, study and career over a period of three days. The fair invites you to discover job prospects in your home area and thus find a job with a future close to family and friends. At KarriereStart 2024, many of the region's most important companies from the fields of industry, IT, skilled trades, services, media, retail, pharmaceuticals, medicine and care will once again be presenting their apprenticeships, internships and job offers. The focus of the fair is on vocational training, and the full range of current occupations will be on display: starting with the popular apprenticeships in mechatronics and sales, and ranging from rare occupations such as watchmaker and porcelain painter to trendy professions such as game developer and e-commerce merchant, as well as the green professions. New to the programme this year is the Schülercup (pupils‘ cup), organised by the Saxon Butchers’ Guild, and the training of young top-class electronics technicians for the 2024 WorldSkills Championships. Whether you have questions about working hours, earnings, job locations, career opportunities or future prospects, HR managers and trainees will be available at the exhibition stands to answer all your questions. The Saxon State Ministry for Education and Culture will be focusing on the dual vocational training and full-time school-based vocational training at vocational school centres (BSZ) in Saxony. At the Ministry's stand, you can take practical tests to find out more about the following occupations: brewer and maltster, florist; gastronomy specialist, kitchen specialist, cook, restaurant and event catering, hotel specialist; wooden toy maker; plant mechanic for sanitary, heating and air conditioning technology, real estate agent; nursing specialist; druggist or retail salesperson. Another focus is on job offers for graduates, those willing to change jobs or those looking for jobs. At the fair, applicant training, job casting and application folder checks are offered free of charge. Those interested should use the visitor service at www.messe-karrierestart.de or in the KarriereStart app to find out more. In addition to the training and job area, KarriereStart also includes offers on study opportunities and a start-up area, where information on setting up a business, self-employment and entrepreneurship as a career option is provided. The programme of more than 100 lectures and workshops complements the advice available at the exhibition stands, and there are also stand promotions and demonstrations. The KarriereStart is open on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission costs €5, reduced €3.50 for pupils, students and the unemployed, and includes participation in the lectures.
